El Vendado Take First Match of President’s Cup @ Saratoga PC (New York)

EL VENADO TAKE FIRST MATCH OF PRESIDENT’S CUP

El Venado made their first game at Saratoag Polo this summer a good one, besting Tackeria/Gene’s Cleaning in the opener of The Regional United States Polo Association President’s Cup Tournament at Saratoga Polo on Friday. The final score was 15-11.

Tackeria/Gene’s Cleaning received a goal on handicap and took off from there. Matt Coppola got it going early, scoring 2 of his 4 markers on the day in the first chukker. With Gene Gass and Juventino Baez adding scores in the first chukker, it looked like Tackeria/Gene’s Cleaning would run away with it the match.

After a slow start, El Venado began to catch up. Charly Cendoya exploded in the second chukker, racking up 4 of his match-high 10 goals. Gaston Rodiguez got the first of his 3 in the second to give El Venado a lead they would never relinquish. Coppola and Baez kept scoring for Tackeria/Gene’s Cleaning into the final chukker, but the final horn blew before they could come back all the way.

John Kriege and Tom Bendixen added scores to keep El Venado in front as well.

The President’s Cup continues at Saratoga Polo on Sunday, July 13th at 5:30pm. For more information about Saratoga Polo, call 518-584-8108 or visit saratogapolo.com.
