Jan 8th ’07: Open House Helps Grow Polo @ Detroit Polo Club

The Detroit Polo Club, in conjunction with, the University of Michigan Polo Team and the United States Polo Association’s PDI initiative, have implemented a new member development program with outstanding initial success. The program, called the DPC WINTER Polo Riding Academy, under the direction of long-time polo player and announcer, Jerry Hutcheson of Birmingham, MI staged an OPEN HOUSE at their winter stable in South Lyon, MI on the first weekend in 2007.

The Open House drew over 58 interested participants who received basic game knowledge, hitting practice with short mallets and then each participant received mounted instruction. Beginning lessons were given by Chief Instructor, Peter Cumming, ably assisted by the entire UM polo team and its captain, Kat Hegan, along with DPC various members. The twelve horses used in the program are all loaned by DPC and UM team members.

Individual and group polo riding lessons and instruction in polo rules, skills and game strategy are available by contacting jerry@detroitpoloclub.com, (248) 854-7725 with further information available at www.detroitpoloclub.com. The United States Polo Association website is www.uspolo.org.

FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT J. HUTCHESON, jerry@detroitpoloclub or call (248) 854-7725. Thank you for your help and cooperation.
