Injured Arellano Supports Brothers-in-Law

Injury sidelined Carlucho Arellano from play in the Outback at Hobe Sound Polo Club 12-goal League, but it didn’t prevent him from feeling a part of Aliano Realty’s unbeaten path to the finals, provisionally scheduled for Saturday, April 3.

Arellano originally lined up alongside Nick Aliano and Carlucho’s brothers-in-law Juan Martin and Tomas Obregon as they claimed victory in their opening game. When Arellano was hit on the hand in a separate tournament game later that week he needed a substitute he could trust to play his horses – he did not need to look far and passed the baton to another brother-in-law, Facundo Obregon.  Two decisive wins later against Palm Beach Equine (14-12) and Yellow Cab (18-6) gave Aliano Realty the first slot in the 12-goal finals.

Arellano who ‘unofficially’ coached from the sidelines was proud of the team.  “I enjoy watching them,” he said.  “Normally I wouldn’t like someone else playing my horses but [they are all] such great horsemen…”

Arellano, who is married to Agustina [Obregon] is hoping to be fit for the finals.  He currently awaits medical results to see if he has an injured tendon in his hand.  “If I’m not able to… I won’t even attempt it,” he said. “I will let Facundo play and I know they will do well.”

Three teams are in contention for the second slot in the finals of the Outback at Hobe Sound Polo Club 12-goal League namely Yellow Cab, Cinque Terre/Peapacton and Woodlawn/Mt Airy.
